  • Who We Are | Farallon Design Inc.

OUR STORY Rooted in Art, Built by Community Farallon Design was founded in 2000 with a simple but powerful mission: to use art as a tool for community transformation. What began as a vision to involve children in creative expression has evolved into a thriving company that creates stunning and long-lasting artworks for public spaces. Our focus is on enhancing communities by producing art that reflects their history, traditions, and culture. The Beginning: Art as a Bridge Farallon Design was born in Barrio Logan neighborhood in San Diego, a community rich in heritage but facing economic challenges. It was here that we saw the incredible potential for art to bring people together. By engaging local youth and residents in our projects, we offered a way for the community to create something they could take pride in — art that would be cherished. Rainforest Art Project One of the first large-scale community projects, completed in 2004 - 2008 for Kaiser Permanente Hospital, was through our partnership with SUCCESS Optimist Club and the San Diego Zoo. There was an obvious need to completely transform the children’s cancer wing, which was dull and institutional. We installed wall mosaics in the hallways, and stained glass designs in patient treatment rooms, to express the vibrancy and diversity of a rainforest habitat. This project evolved and revolutionized our mission. Not only did we involve the patients and their families in the creation of the designs and mosaic process, we started developing individual skill-building art projects to share with those children. We became dedicated to making art more accessible to kids facing difficult circumstances. That is how the Rainforest Art Program was born. As professional artists, we understand first-hand the thrill that art can bring to subjects such as history, geography, science and math. Today, our educational programs have over a decade of proven success in various learning settings, ranging from in-person classroom instruction to remote online learning, summer schools and afterschool enrichment. LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS Meet The Team Dan Evers Founder & CEO Dan launched the initiative over 20 years ago, to work with underserved schools in San Diego, creating permanent artworks that fostered creativity and connection among students and their families. Dan's vision expanded over the years to include partnerships with hospitals, schools, community organizations and municipalities, providing therapeutic and educational art experiences. His leadership has guided the company in transforming public spaces and inspiring community change through art. Maria Titova Executive Director Maria joined the company back in 2016, applying her extensive experience in art, design and business administration to expand and improve program development and operations. She oversees the organization's diverse art programs that aim to engage and educate communities. Maria plays a crucial role in strategic planning, managing partnerships, ensuring the project's mission of using art to inspire creativity and connection is effectively carried out.
